Designed in 1950 by LaGardo Tackett whose ceramics students at the California School for Art in Hollywood inspired Max and Rita Lawrence to found Architectural Pottery. The hole in the base provides an outlet for moisture which would otherwise be trapped inside and damage the surface on which the piece is resting.
